Eugene Von Bruenchenhein

16 July - 15 September 2010

Eugene Von Bruenchenhein (1910-1983) described himself as 'Freelance Artist, Poet and Sculptor, Inovator [sic], Arrow maker and Plant man, Bone artifacts constructor, Photographer and Architect, Philosopher'. During his lifetime he created thousands of works known only to his wife, Marie, and to a handful of friends. He made scores of visionary, apocalyptic paintings, but he also made extraordinary sculptures, using dried chicken bones from TV dinners, as well as taking hundreds of black and white glamour photographs of his wife, posed against various exotic backgrounds in their modest house in Milwaukee.

This exhibition comprises one painting and nineteen photographs of the artist's wife.
